How decluttering makes space for your goals and intentions
Today I wanted to share with you a simple strategy that I use when I’m working on my goals and intentions. It’s probably not what you think… It’s making space by decluttering!
Make space by decluttering
Not just physical things, but also mental and emotional clutter.
Clearing the clutter creates space for new experiences to happen. Physical space, mental space and emotional space. It works every time and you’ll notice feeling lighter. It also has a great impact on your productivity! Go back to decluttering whenever you feel stuck or when you just want to open the space for greater things to come your way.
So this is the process that I have been using. For 9 days, you declutter 27 things, if you miss a day, you start over again. You may be surprised how much you can find when you make it a game!
For physical clutter, it could be anything from clothes that you haven’t worn in 10 years to out of date jars at the back of the kitchen cupboard. It could even be finally making that appointment with a therapist to get rid of that niggling pain in your knee. When it comes to mental clutter it could be clearing out your inbox or dealing with that pile of paperwork on your desk. Emotional decluttering could be finally having that conversation you have been putting off for ages or talking to someone who can deeply listen to you about something that has been bothering you for some time now.
Aligning your goals and intentions
Once you have decluttered, first check in with your goals to make sure that they feel aligned with you. If your goals don’t feel good and expansive, something is off. If you try to achieve a goal that is a ‘should’, you’re not likely to achieve it. If it feels like it’s pulling you to the next level, because you want to make a difference and create an impact through your work, you’re absolutely on the right track. Even if it feels uncomfortable to step up.
Next, step into a sense of expectancy and wonder of how your goals will happen. It is often not in the way you think it should be. You never know who or what comes on your path. Often, even better things happen when you allow them to happen. Nothing happens by accident. When you’re in that space it’s synchronicity. The space you have created invites your creativity in. You listen to your intuition, you tune in and take inspired action consistently. When you do this, you keep your space expanded. You will be so much more productive. When you go frantically work on making your goals happen trying to control it, your energy contracts and the space you’ve created diminishes.
